These BULLET CARTRIDGE REPLICA RAZOR HANDLES are pretty darn cool!

They are available in chrome, gold titanium or black titanium.  

Any of these finishes are quite durable.

AND...wait for it...

the Gillette Mach III razor blades fit these handles!!

So you (or the gift recipient) can get the blades very easily at your local drug store, grocery store, or all-purpose store like Wal-Mart.  (He...or she... may already be using these blades on a plastic handle.)

These razors can be custom-made in almost any clay color(s) you like.

The clay design shown is smooth, not textured. However, the clay can be made with a texture (pattern) or with ridges on the underside or on the sides for better gripping.

Optional razor stands are also available in the same finishes as the razor handles for a stylish pairing to compliment your vanity decor and/or finishes.

This item is a relatively "simple-to-complete project" being made like the pens with a brass tube and simply pressing the components together.  Also, the head of the handle is removable (threaded) for easy cleaning when necessary.

I think these make a really unique gift for a grad, dad, groom, or other special occasion for the gun enthusiast, hunter, outdoorsman...or woman.  Or simply for the man, or woman, who already has everything else!  :-)

The pattern on the razor handle shown was created by first covering and shaping the handle in a silvery mix of pearl white and black clay.  Then sheets of black clay, pearl white clay, and a pearl blue clay were layered on top of each other in a "block."  I made deep impressions onto the top layer of the clay pushing down into the other two clay colors.  I used my tissue blade to slice off the raised portions that were left in the clay between and around the deep impressions.  The pieces that I sliced off the top were placed onto the silvery clay on the razor handle tube. The tube was rolled until all the clay was smooth and re-shaped as desired.

Bullet Bracelets

 BULLET JEWELRY BRACELETS

This bracelets features a 40 caliber bullet head and light turquoise Swarovski crystals in textured turquoise clay.  The clay and bullet head rest in a silver plated bezel.  Suede laces are attached to the bezel with a clasp and extender chain.   

The back of the bezel is smooth.

The suede bracelet laces are available in black, white or pink.  

The other bezel is completed with a .223 bullet head with a Swarovski crystal in the center of purple, white, & black clay.  This bezel would look nice in any of the suede colors.

These can be custom made with your choice of bullet caliber/mm, your choice of clay color, and your choice of suede color.  These can also be made without bullet heads and can include multiple clay colors, pattern/design, with multiple crystals, etc.

These are very cute bracelets and lend to many different options and ideas.  Can be matched to a stretch or sized ring and a pendant an/or earrings too.

The suede laces are easy to make as well.

This silver plated adjustable ring features a 9mm bullet cartridge head.

Blue and silver polymer clay frames the cartridge head inside the 12mm (diameter) ring bezel.

This ring will adjust to fit size 6 to 8.

Bullet Cuff Links

SILVER PLATED CUFF LINKS

BLACK POLYMER CLAY AND a 9mm BRASS, 

ONCE-FIRED, BULLET CARTRIDGE HEAD

In case you aren't familiar with ammunition, this is a 9mm fired bullet cartridge head.

This is the part of the bullet that is hit by the gun hammer when the trigger is pulled (see the dimple in the center).

Can't say for sure if I shot this bullet or my husband did.  We were target shooting and I picked up the cartridges when we were finished so I could make some cool accessories!. 

But I digress...

The cartridge is the part of the bullet that is ejected from the gun when the other part, the actual bullet, is shot through the barrel of the gun.  The cartridge holds the gun powder and the actual bullet which sticks out from the cartridge.  The part in the cuff link is the head and rim which has been cut off of the end of the cartridge.  This particular cartridge is brass. I hope to get some nickel cartridges in the 9mm as well as other caliber bullets, too.  

(Currently, I have brass 9mm & brass .380 caliber cartridges. .380s are just a slight bit smaller in diameter than the 9mm.)

(These two bullets came from the same manufacturer out of the same box of bullets...they match.)

Once the heads were cut from the cartridges (sounds brutal, doesn't it?!)

I paired them with some black clay and silver plated cuff links and voila...

These cuff link bezels measure 14mm in diameter

A subtle accessory, yet it makes a bold statement and will likely 

be the only pair like them at the event!

Of course, any color clay (or mix of colors) could be used for the cuff links.

Easter / Civil War Pen

Can you believe Easter is here?  After such a long and cold Winter for most, it's about time, I say.  Having said that, the winter months are when I always hope to get so much creating done...which didn't exactly happen this year.   I had hoped to get more acquainted with the metal clays and  have a plethora of pens and other items completed in polymer.  Oh well...best laid plans, I suppose.

We had a beautiful weekend weather-wise here last weekend, then it turned cooler again this week.  So, I have a little more studio time left with out having the "cabin fever!"  (Which will go away when it turns hot and humid 'round here! )

I do have a photo or two I can share, however.  I have made a new pen that I haven't made before...the Civil War Pen.  This is a great pen for history buffs, in particular Civil War buffs, or any gun enthusiast.  The cap and tip of the pen are actual size replicas of 2 bullets used in the Civil War and the clip is a replica (not actual size, of course!) of the 1861 Springfield Musket used as well.  This is a pen with a larger girth, bu isn't too long, so it's balanced nicely.  (Would be good for those who have trouble gripping thinner pens, too.)

Actual Fired Bullet Cartridge Pens

THIS YEAR'S CONVERSATION PIECE...

The brass shell that is ejected from a gun 

when the bullet is fired is now a PEN! 

The Mini -- a .30 caliber shell:

You can see where the hammer hit the shell when it was fired (center fired bullet) 

and the size with the quarter reference.

The brass shell is not polished...it is left as is after firing and the clay component

replaces the area where the bullet was.

The pen twists at the band between the shell and the clay component.

The mini .30 caliber features a rose gold tip and takes mini ink refills

and the .50 caliber features a 24K gold tip and takes Cross(TM) style refills.

HALLOWEEN is Around the Corner

Halloween is just around the corner!

I don't make a huge production of Halloween at my house anymore, but I still get a kick out of the costumes and decorations available and seeing people who do decorate and dress up.  

With some of these items I'm making, I might  even "dress up" at work this year!

My First Silver Piece!

I have been playing again!

Introducing...my first silver piece... 

[ insert drum roll here]

This is silver clay...meaning this piece is .999 pure silver after firing.  This will not bake in the oven to cure...it requires a kiln or torch firing.  I think I will play some more with this awesome medium!

I cut out the shape, added some texture, and I created a bale on the back...

After firing, it was cleaned, and oxidized (the black in the recessed portion of the pattern) and then polished.  It's not perfect...but it isn't too bad for my first piece!

I strung it on 3 leather cords (symbolism), added a clasp, and voila!  

My very own one of a kind cross necklace!  I'm so excited!

Pure silver is softer than Sterling Silver because Sterling is an alloy (it contains other metals...copper, etc.). Alloys are stronger/harder than pure silver...BUT pure silver won't tarnish like Sterling (because of the other metals in it).

I can't wait to make some more goodies in silver!

Eyeglass Holders and Purse Key Hangers

These are pretty handy for those who take their glasses on and off frequently throughout the day.  They come in chrome, gun metal, and gold (not shown). They are magnetic (strong earth magnet) so they won't damage clothing and can go anywhere on your clothing you would like. 

They can be paired up with the purse key hanger in the same finish to make a nice gift set...

The centers have been embellished with textured clay. 

These items can be placed in the oven with the clay to cure or the clay can be formed, cured, and then attached to the metal with some jewelry glue.  Personally, I place the entire piece in the oven to cure the clay.  Then, once cured and cooled, I do my darndest to get the clay to come away from the metal (what you wouldn't want to happen during use!)  If I can't get it to come off...it's likely not coming off.  If it comes off with some aggressive prompting...I add some jewelry glue (made to work on metal) and put the clay medallion back in place.  It's now sure to stay put!  It is easier to add texture if you cure the clay while it's attached to the item.

The New FAVORITE!

My New FAVORITE Pen!

This is the Nouveau Sceptre Ball Point Pen designed by David Broadwell.

I made this pen for a customer and it is a beautiful pen...the photos do not do it justice!

This particular pen is finished in 22K Gold & Rhodium and the blue mix of clay looks so pretty with both finishes.  I am planning to make one for myself - but in a different clay color.  

This pen also comes in a 22K Gold & Black TN (titanium) finish.

It is a twist pen (twists at the end cap) and uses Parker-style refills.  You can definitely tell there is a pen in your hand (it weighs in more than the plastic bic), but it is balanced nicely.

Some Fun Figurines...

I am dabbling in a little "sculpting" (if you can call it that...) with the clay.  The Bunny was the first one and I think he turned out  pretty good.  I'm thinking of some other animals to try to improve on my skills!

Glass beads were used for the eyes and a couple toothpicks as "bones" in the bunny as a neck and ears support system.  Everything else is clay (except for the bunny's whiskers and the mother of pearl chips on the turtle's shell).
