PENDANTS

Examples of pendants made to be sold as jewelry supply items.  Some are textured, some are gloss finished where others are simply polished clay.  Some include liquid clay and other inclusions. 

Some incorporate bails made of clay while others include metal bails and/or jump rings. The last one doesn't include either...it features holes in the side where stringing wire can be strung through.  

They all vary in size, thickness, color, and style. 

Clay Beads can be made to match the pendants and be sold as a "kit" of sorts for those who like to make their own jewelry.  

Black Titanium & Gun Metal

As I referred to the Black TN (titanium) finish matching the gun metal finish nicely in a previous post, I thought I would share these photos. 

This is a  Black Titanium Slimline (see the insignia on the clip) with a gun metal stylus tip added.  

The clay is a simple red and black semi-mix.  The titanium is very durable, but the tip is not available in the same finish.  Adding a tip in the gun metal allows this nicely finished pen to also be made 

as a very handy stylus.  

This pen was made for one of my husband's co-workers...he's putting the titanium finish to the test!

The New FAVORITE!

My New FAVORITE Pen!

This is the Nouveau Sceptre Ball Point Pen designed by David Broadwell.

I made this pen for a customer and it is a beautiful pen...the photos do not do it justice!

This particular pen is finished in 22K Gold & Rhodium and the blue mix of clay looks so pretty with both finishes.  I am planning to make one for myself - but in a different clay color.  

This pen also comes in a 22K Gold & Black TN (titanium) finish.

It is a twist pen (twists at the end cap) and uses Parker-style refills.  You can definitely tell there is a pen in your hand (it weighs in more than the plastic bic), but it is balanced nicely.

Penlight Key Ring

or need to see to make your way.  

This one is covered in a mix of black and copper clay for a smooth pattern on the barrel.  

It features a textured rope design on each end and 

a textured rope in black clay that wraps around the barrel.  

Six Swarovski crystals give it a touch of bling. 

A simple turn of the key ring will turn the light on and off.

 This key ring is only available in a 24K gold finish.  

It accepts button batteries which are included.

Volcano Swarovski Crystals feature complimentary mutli-colored bling with the copper and black clay mix used.  Features a rope design border and 3-D textured "rope" that wraps around the barrel of the key chain for a very unique, one-of-a-kind design.

These are a great home decor addition!  

They come in a chrome or a 24K gold finish.  

They can be made in a set of 2 or 3...or a single pull.  

It's a subtle change in your decor, but a nice one!  

Mimicking Nature...

 This is also a brass metal focal piece.  Gold clay has been used with a little green metallic inka gold on most of the sections on one side. A single black diamond colored Swarovski crystal was added to one section for a tiny bit of sparkle and "dress up." The clay sections have been clear coated.

The bale was a lucky find.  I think it fits this simple, understated leaf pendant perfectly!

The back is simply gold clay that has also been clear coated.  Very simple, easy, and inexpensive to make.   A different and unique piece with wide open possibilities as a completed necklace.

Butterfly Bling

This is a little different twist on jewelry from what I've done in the past.  This is a metal focal piece and I added clay so the end result is similar to a cloisonne piece.  Obviously it looks different from cloisonne, but it's a similar look...some pieces more so than others.

This butterfly is the first one I made.  I painstakingly added different color clay in all the "holes" of the design.  It has 5 swarovski crystals included, a bale, and a cord.  The clay was applied to the back of the piece first in one neutral color.  The different colors on the front were applied from the front and the backing gave the colored clay pieces something to adhere to.  It is a nice piece that I kept for myself (but I do have another butterfly focal piece that I haven't made yet) and I truly do not think the photos do it justice.  

The piece has been clear coated. I used a very small liner brush and added clear coat only to the clay (or tried to anyway!).  It was extremely inexpensive to make and could be sold as a pendant only or as a completed piece of jewelry.  I have kept an eye out for focal pieces such as this one ever since!

Metal & Clay Focal Piece

This is another metal focal piece - in antique brass. It contains a clay mix of white & beige and holds 5 champagne colored Swarovski crystals, 5 small ruby colored Swarovski crystals, and one garnet genuine gemstone in the center.

I am working on my photography skills to capture the sparkle the Swarovski crystals have.  I haven't mastered that and the photos really do not do the pieces justice.  Even if this particular piece -- shape, design, and metal finish aren't your particular taste, this one sparkles nicely.  The champagne colored crystals are beautiful and blend so well with the clay colors.

The clay has been clear coated with a liner brush.  An antique brass bale finishes this pendant.
Simple and inexpensive to create.

 KALEIDOSCOPE

This is a  kaleidoscope in the shape of an egg.  It rests on a metal footed stand.  It contains multi-colored acrylic stones in the compartment at one end.  Look into the eye piece...through the mirrors...& turn the kaleidoscope in your hand to see the pretty patterns.

This project required assembling the insides of the kaleidoscope and choosing the number of acrylic stones so they would move around freely but fill enough space to make the correct size patterns.

The outside is a wooden "egg" covered in clay with the mirrors placed inside the wooden "egg."

It's a very unique gift...particularly being a one-of-a-kind-item.

It takes a little time to complete this project as you aren't only applying the clay, but assembling the kaleidoscope.  This would be a great desk piece for someone who has everything they need -- an executive, a boss, a co-worker, teacher, mentor, etc.

The clay was applied in sections (gold mica) and a mix of beige, white and black were added by small pieces as the "veining."  Then gold metal powder was added to the "veining" sparingly for a touch of "fools gold" effect.  A copper paste was rubbed onto the textured portions of the gold clay sections.  All clay areas were clear coated as this is an item that will be handled somewhat.

Vertex Click Pen & Pencil Set

Oh my...it has been way too long since I've posted.  It has been such a busy summer & pre-summer season. I hope everyone has had a good time this summer and has weathered the heatwave fairly well!

This is a Vertex Pen & Pencil Set that was special ordered.  She asked for green and black random patterned clay without a tapered barrel (straight profile). This is how they turned out!  She will be receiving the set tomorrow (a birthday gift for her beau next week).

She asked for "green and black" clay.  I planned on mixing blue and gold (mica) clays together to get a shade of green I like, but ended up mixing in yet another shade of green.  So it ended up being 4 clay colors rather than 3 and three shades of green rather than one or two.  I think the clay looks very nice with the gun metal finish of the pen/pencil!  Here's to hoping she likes it!

Stylus Pens

These are great!  They are a slim pen -- great for everyday use -- and have a soft stylus tip on the end cap. These twist pens accept Cross style refills and are available in chrome, 24K Gold, and gun metal.  (These also are available in a stylus without the dual function of a pen and also have a clip for pocket or case.)  Love these!
This is a pen with 3 colors of clay (semi-mixed with the pasta machine), applied to two tubes, and then press-assembled.  Quick & easy to make...convenient...classic...techie...all-around handy item. They accept Cross style ball point refills. Available in chrome, gun metal, or 24K gold finishes.
Optional clips are available that will fit this pen as well...rifle, deer head, cross, golf club, baseball bat, tennis racquet, etc.  (chrome & 24K gold only).

Mini Stylus

This is a great little tool!  It can be attached to a key chain or directly to your touch screen device. It comes with a cord and a plug that fits into the audio jack of your phone, iPad, etc. so you always have it with you.  It has a soft tip that mimics your finger on the touch screen, but is smaller than your finger.  These come in 24K Gold or Chrome and are quite easy to make.  The coverable tube is a bit small, as you can see, which poses a little bit of a challenge, but isn't difficult.  Quick, easy and economical to make, they make a great gift for a co-worker -- not too personal, but very useful -- or anyone.
These were made by laying colors, creating a textured pattern, and slicing off the raised portions of the clay to create a 2 or 3 color pattern.  Then the clay is applied to a brass tube and cured. The ends are pressed onto the tube and voila!  You have a handy dandy mini stylus!

Elegant Sierra

This pen is soooo easy to make.  Accepts Parker style refills and is a very classy pen.  This pen comes in many different metal finishes.  One single tube covered in clay and only one part requires pressing -- the rest are threaded.  It has a nice heft, but isn't a large pen -- great for men or women.
This one was made with 2 colors -- red and black -- layering the colors and making a textured pattern (impressing one color into the underlying color) then slicing off layers to get a 2-tone pattern.  The black with the red really stands out and looks great with the black titanium finish on the pen shown.  Depending on the process you choose to mix the colors (or not mix any colors) will depend on the length of time required to produce a pen like this.  One clay barrel is going to take less time than a pen with 2 barrels, but the process of getting this clay effect will add production time.

The Crown Jewel

I love this pen!  It's so different and blingy!  Definitely not a gift choice for a man, but a great gift given by a man! (Tells her she's like royalty to you! And what girl doesn't want to hear that!)  The styling and 24K Gold finish lends to many different color/color mix choices.  A single tube is covered in clay to your pattern/color choice, shaped, cured, buffed, sanded & clear coated.  Easy assembly and the twist mechanism is controlled by the jeweled end cap.  A very distinctive pen...you'll know when someone steals this pen at work! Currently this pen is only available in 24K Gold (no matching pencil available).  The clay on this pen is blue and fuscia mixed together (for the royal color of purple) with pearlized turquoise not completely mixed in for a bit of contrasting and complimentary color.  This pen would also look great in a simple black with a little gold mica mixed in!

Vertex Pen

A great guy pen!!  Has the styling of nuts and bolts!  (Guys love that stuff!)  A single tube covered in copper red clay with a light copper clay border and black clay edging. The copper red was applied to the tube, then the light copper border, then the black clay edging, shaped to the desired thickness and then cured. After sanding & buffing, the pen was press-assembled.  This is a click pen available in chrome (shown), 24K Gold, or Gun Metal (matching click pencil available in all but 24K Gold) and accepts a Parker style refill.  This style is also available in a fountain pen and rollerball pen with a magnetic cap (these pens have the same styling, but look a bit different).  Make great Father's Day gifts or any occasion for the handy guy!  This pen is nicely weighted and balanced and easily assembled.  This style lends to many creative options with the clay colors and textures.

Rifle Clip Pen

This is a pen made with an alternate clip installed.  This is the 24K Gold rifle clip on a 24K Gold Slimline.  Other options for alternate clips are available.  The clay on this pen was the "left over" from the clay used on the bullet cartridge pen.  Quite a different look, but had a resemblance to camo without actually being a camo pattern.   A slimline pen with this specialty clip is great for the lady hunter or markswoman.

Bullet Cartridge Pens

These are great pens for the gun enthusiast, hunter, or military guy/gal.  They write nicely and are quite the conversation piece.

This is a pen made with 4 clay colors -- copper red, black, white, & beige -- by layering the colors, creating a textured pattern of your choice, and then slicing off the raised portions of the pattern to as many layers as you like to get the desired effect.  Run the clay through the pasta machine to smooth out the clay and you have a sheet of clay that can be applied to the pen tube. Shape the clay to the desired thickness, trim excess clay, and cure. Sand, buff & clear coat and press the pen together! It accepts a Parker style refill and writes very nicely.  These pens come in 24K Gold plating (shown), chrome, or gun metal. Matching pencils are available in 24K Gold or Chrome.  This is a click pen, but is also available in a twist pen version. It features a softer and quieter "click" than many click pens, also.


These are replicas of a 30 caliber cartridges. These are not actual fired cartridges. The optional rose gold tip (shown) can be installed on the pens as well as deer head, rifle or musket clips rather than the standard "scope" style clip (shown).  A 50 caliber machine gun pen is available that is an actual fired cartridge.  The 30 caliber pens are also available in a larger "magnum" size -- about 10% larger than the one shown (available in twist pen version only).  Many bullet cartridge pen styles available...if this is your thing!

Gift & Keepsake Box

Again...my apologies for the crude pictures, but I have been so very busy getting ready for the Flea Market that I haven't had the time to spend on decent photographs.  BUT hopefully many of these will sell at the Flea Market and I won't be listing them online for sale.

This tin isn't as elaborate as some I've made, but I kind of liked the simplicity of it -- particularly with the phrases.

These make great keepsake boxes or gift boxes.  They are hinged-lid tins (like the kind the mints come in, but I ordered them from a supplier, so they were never used for mints). I cover them in clay and embellish them and then put some inserts inside - foam craft sheets cut to size.

These need to be planned out somewhat or else you won't have any way to hold the tin while you cover it! Cover the top first while holding it by the bottom.  You can close the lid or leave it open.  Cure the clay.   Then cover the bottom using the closed lid as a guide. You don't want to cover the bottom completely on the sides or the lid won't close.  You'll also have to cut out around the hinges on the lid and bottom so the lid has room to open.  You can either make the clay real thin below the hinges or cut it away completely.  Just test it before you cure or your clay will break off when you open the box after curing.  Just remember the clay on the lid will be in the oven twice!  (or more depending on how you layer it.)  Don't overbake!  It will crack for sure! 

I like the ball feet on the bottom, but it doesn't have to have feet or it can have a different style other than ball feet.

A great gift box to make for a special gift -- and it doesn't need wrapping.  You could tie it up in tissue paper or netting or just put it under the tree (unless you have dogs...they like to eat the clay!!!  This is NOT good! Very bad for the puppies! And it doesn't leave the box looking very nice either!)  Just a tip.

This particular box would make a great gift box for a wedding gift from groom to bride, etc.
